"College, oh no!" PT 1-New guy here
by theundecided2004 inhello everyone, i have been keeping up with posts on this board for about four years now, been a member for about one year but have never had the courage to make my first post.
so now i'm going to make that first step to get rid of that fear i had of betraying myself, and vent my experiences and frustrations with this faith.
i think this board will be a good way for me to make acquaintances of people with similar feelings that i have regarding the jehovah's witnesses, as well as a good outlet for my frustrations as a jw, and get some advice as to maybe getting a reasonable exit strategy in the near future.

Welcome to the board undecided (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( HUGS ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
What a compelling recount of growing up JW. I left when in my late twenties. Part of the reason was to spare my children the pain of growing up in that joy-sapping-guilt-ridden-burden-loading-BS or a religion.
btw - this is a great place to vent!!! lol

Are emails from JW's who know you've left cries for help?
by kwintestal inas a jw, i always wondered why someone would leave 'the truth'.
obviously though as they were df'd or had da'd themselves you couldn't just go up to them and ask what the deal was.
yesterday we got an email from a friend of mrs. kwin who moved 3 hours away last fall, basically saying "i missed not seeing you at the assembly.

Kwint - you are thinking like a normal person but she's acting like a dub! Remember hearing 'we missed U at the meeting !!! It's just their way of saying 'get ur ass back to the KH'!

Don't Try To Convert Me
by LouBelle inon saturday just past went to an open flea market, browsing around, looking for things to buy, goodies to eat and the like.
passing a religious books stand, i just stopped to see if there was anything worth reading.
noticed something on the flood but didn't take it as it wasn't anything substantial.....so the chap behind the table asks me if i read my bible.....i started feeling nauseous from then.

I'm with YOU LouBelle! I can't stand it when people talk 'religion' with me. They NEVER want to hear the OTHER side.(like you need someone to give you a bible reading schedule sheesh)
I asked a friend if she had done any research on Christianity or the origin of the Bible - of course she said no. I told her neither have I, and until I make sure for MYSELF that Christianity is the WAY then I will continue praying and leading a life based on values and principles that I believe are right. After summarizing my past as a brainwashed JW I explained that I would be hardpressed to join a church - I've been misled before and the cost of not making sure of ones beliefs can be very high.

Sport and JWs!!!
by zagor injust wondering what your experiences are.
were you "encouraged" not to devote time to personal exercise, gym or sport in general?
i remember this one time co gave a talk how "we do not need sport" then he proceeded to explain how walking up the stairs in field service was exercise enough for our legs, then how we didn't need any stretching exercise as making gestures while explaining the bible verses would do the job, and so on.

Sick ... mind-control ... bulsh*t!
I remember one sister being discouraged from getting massages ... others sis's thought it was immoral to have a man touching you .
I don't recall off-hand hearing anything as bizarre as 'fs is all we need' lmao. The certainly didn't ENCOURAGE health and excercise. Armygetton was right around the corner (must be one hell-uv-a long block!)

Luther Vandross
by pratt1 in.
maybe i missed an early post on the death of luther, but i just wanted to state that i am a big fan of his music and knowing that i will not ee him again in concert or wait with anticipation his next cd certainly makes me sad..

Luther was not just a singer he was an entertainer and he always turned a concert OUT!
One of the things I liked most about him was his ability to remake a song and compliment it with his smooth, sexy voice and inject his personal style. Nobody does it like he did.
He will be missed.

FedUp
by puppet inthank you for letting me post this un-sent letter to my father.
i am writing this to voice my opinion; this is not open for discussion.
i find if upsetting that you feel its appropriate to invite my husband into your home and demean the religion he was brought up in, not only have you done that in your home but youve also done it in his home.

We often discuss mental illness among the witnesses on this board. I doubt the prosecuting attorney would follow up on this if they did not have credible proof that this is in fact a hoax. How easily people accept the guilt of some over others . If this DID NOT happen to this young lady from where whould her help come?
